He is not your idea of a rapper – someone who has had a gilt-edge law education in a UK university and even took the time and pain to go through the whole gamut of becoming a practicing lawyer in Nigeria by attending the requisite law school. Called to bar in 2012, he is a qualified lawyer. However, his academic and profession qualifications have been relegated to the background. If he had chosen the law path, he’d have been addressed as Barrister Folarin Falana; instead a rising hip-hop sensation is what he has become. He goes by the name Falz.

He was formerly and more popularly known as Rico Slim. Now he goes by the stage name Ric Hassani, otherwisely known as R.I.C. From his name to his music, he is change personified. He won a music contest at the biggest stage: The MTN Project Fame Season Five. Suddenly Ayobami Ayoola popularly known as A-Why-Oh becomes a household name, what with the talent he demonstrated and the enviable prizes he clinched as the winner of the first-rate reality music show. However, not many people are aware that this same music champ has a backstory of four failed attempts (at getting on this MTN-sponsored reality music competition that he eventually won), in fact, five failures, if you count his short-lived foray into another topnotch music talent hunt, The Nigerian Idol, where he was successful to be among the finalists only to become the first evictee.
