MTV Base Artiste Of The Month For March Is "Patoranking"

Nigerian
reggae-dancehall sensation Patoranking has been named as the MTV Base Artiste
Of The Month for March 2015.
Following his recent
string of successes including several hit singles and industry awards; MTV Base
is supporting Patoranking with a month of programmes chronicling his meteoric
rise to fame.
Born in 1990 in Lagos,
the Ebonyi State indigene started his performing arts career as a street gig
and carnival dancer. He released his first single “So Nice” in 2009 and he
followed this up with “Up In The Club” in 2010. In 2012, he released “Iya Bisi”
which did well and opened up opportunities to work with more artistes. 2013 saw
Patoranking release “Park Well” and “Tonight” featuring Faze, which also did
well.
His first breakout hit
single “Alubarika” came in 2013. The song, which featured acclaimed
afro-dancehall artiste Timaya became a nationwide anthem, which helped Patoranking
build a large fanbase and work with a number of established artistes in a
string of collaborations.
In February 2014 he
signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released the original
version of “Girlie O”, produced by WizzyPro. Tiwa Savage was so
impressed by the track that she reached out to him to jump on the remix, which
adds some polish to the song’s minimalist dancehall beat. All in all,
Patoranking’s romantic charm, positivism and spirituality makes him a promising
rising star in the global dancehall scene and a worthy #AoTM for MTV
Base!
