R&B singer turned gospel artiste, Obiora Obiwon
graces the cover of the new (5th) edition of Vine Magazine, [an entertainment
and lifestyle magazine for young positive mind].
Obiwon speaks about his conversion and salvation
experience, his relationship with Tuface, Blackface, Flavour, Ill-Bliss and
others which spans almost two decades.
In this interview, Obiwon speaks about his initial
rejection and skepticism he had to endure from the ‘gospel community’ after he
made the switch to gospel music and why he is not comfortable charging fees to
minister. He also had some stern words for other gospel artistes who ‘demand’
payment to minister, saying switching to gospel music was not a business
decision.
This edition also features Pastor J (Jimmy
Odukoya), Nikki Laoye, PITA and more.
Vine Magazine which is now distributed free every
month, is out this Sunday (August 25) and will be given out at major youth
churches around the city of Lagos and environs as well as major gospel gigs
going down throughout the month of September.
