“REAL HUSBANDS OF HOLLYWOOD” TO DEBUT ACROSS AFRICA ON BET INTERNATIONAL

US funnyman and actor Kevin Hart has
teamed up with BET to create one of the funniest comedy shows on television. “Real
Husbands of Hollywood”, a semi-scripted series billed as the “fakest reality
show ever”, follows a group of genuine Hollywood husbands as they live their
over-the-top existences. See it from the husband’s point of view and enjoy the
ride as these guys take on all challenges that life throws at them.
“Real Husbands of Hollywood” premieres on BET International at 23:00 WAT/00:00 CAT on Wednesday January 13.
Parodying and lampooning the human caricatures we
hate to love in reality shows, “Real Husbands of Hollywood” features a
cast of real-life entertainment figures, all playing loosely fictionalised
versions of themselves. Starring in the show are the (recently divorced)Kevin
Hart, Nick Cannon (husband of superstar Mariah Carey), Boris
Kodjoe (husband of actress Nicole Ari Parker), Duane Martin (husband
of actress Tisha Campbell-Martin), J. B. Smoove (husband of the
songstress Shahidah Omar) and Robin Thicke (husband of
actress Paula Patton). Special guest appearances by television, film,
music and sport’s biggest stars come thick and fast, with cameos from Jay
Leno, Ed O’Neill, Shaquille O’Neal, Nelly, Faizon Love, Common, Trey
Songz, Cedric the Entertainer and several other A-list surprises.
Don’t be surprised if you recognise some situations
or characters reminiscent of those other reality shows: the intention is
deliberate!
“I haven't been this excited about a project of
mine in a while. There is nothing like this on television. The levels of funny
that will be reached on this show are endless!,” said Kevin Hart.
“We knew after the response to the “Real Husbands”
sketches on the BET Awards that we had something special. Look in the
dictionary under the word “obvious” and you see a picture of us deciding to
turn the sketches into a series,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music
Programming and Specials. “Kevin Hart leads an incredible cast in this show
that turns all of the conventions you hate to love in those wives’ shows on
their collective ear. We are SO proud to be working with this all-star production
team. This is the best funny you’ll see on TV this year.”
