Vlisco’s latest striking ‘Funky Grooves’ collection; and recently fashionistas, press members, dignitaries and VIPs were treated to seeing these visual treats on the runway with three exclusive fashion shows  – a first for the 166-year old Dutch company known for its luxury fashion fabrics.

The first show hosted by super-comedian Jedi was held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos on 2 September, where the stunning Funky Grooves fabrics were simply draped and tied on the models for the first catwalk, and then shown as completed outfits from Vlisco in-house designers in the second and third catwalk.

Lagos designers Ojoma Ocheja Sanusi of AEEA (Aesthetically Eclectic Eccentric African) and Caterina Bortolussi of Kinabuti (www.kinabuti.com) presented their own fabulous Funky Grooves designs in the fourth and fifth catwalks. There was more in the form of entertainment though as Project Fame season three winner Chidinma belted out her hit songs.

Abuja comedian, Dr Ayuba hosted the show and provided hilarious comedy, whilst entertainment was provided by traditional dance troupe Blackbones, new rapper MoEasy and special guest star Darey Art Alade, who performed a medley of his hits and serenaded the ladies.

And on 11 September, at the Xscape Centre in Port Harcourt, three designers from the East showcased their beautiful Vlisco Funky Grooves designs to a packed audience: Oreva Okowa of Signature Secrets in Asaba; Mosun Ebodaghe of Mosun Couture in Port Harcourt and Nkechi Enuma-Chukura of NK Classics in Asaba.
