The exploit of Nollywood actor cum director, Kunle Afolayan got the attention of the Cable Network News (CNN) Market Place penultimate week. Though his latest film, Phone Swap was the reason, he also shared his experience as a producer poised to make films that will not only be interesting but have commercial and universal appeal.

He told CNN Marketplace:
You know most of the films that were churned out that really flooded the market, seem to be the same kind of story. The same kind of people re-cycling just like Hollywood but the people wants change, people wants to see something different.”
His latest movie, Phone Swap, no doubt a career defining effort was shot with 400,000 US dollars, which, he said, is a pointer to the direction Nollywood is going. “In the last five years, it’s a new ball game because now, people, producers realize that you can actually make more money with a film of better production value, with good story value and make money than when you churn out lower quality films every time.
