The home of the late Afrobeat Legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti which has now been transformed into a museum was opened to the general public at an inauguration ceremony at 7, Gbemisola Street, Ikeja in Lagos yesterday.

The ground floor houses the reception, a coffee shop, souvenir shop and offices for managers of the building. The first floor, which was Fela’s living quarters, has being converted into the main gallery floor where visitors can view exhibits on the late legend. Apart from the main gallery, there are four exhibition rooms including Fela’s bedroom which is left largely intact but inaccessible to visitors.

The second floor is converted into a four-room hotel where people can lodge. While the roof top is the entertainment floor where people can unwind. A band stand, restaurant and a bar are already in place at the open space where people can enjoy cool breeze and look at Ikeja from a vantage height.

The Kalakuta Museum is conceived and managed by Total Consult – a reputable firm of architects and builders of numerous projects and proudly supported by the Lagos state government.
