Mike Awoyinfa is the Publisher of Entertainment Express. Was the former Managing Director and Editor-in-chief of The Sun, Lagos. He is the author of 50 Nigeria's Corporate Strategists and Nigeria's Marketing Memoirs. He is President, Chelsea Fan Club. He writes Press Clips and Rolling Stone columns in Entertainment Express newspaper. He is President, Chelsea Fan Club.

Mike Awonyifa
was born into an average family and at a tender age of six, he was taken from his
parents to live with his eldest brother who was a school teacher, and as usual,
Life with a school teacher back then was filled with books, and he was exposed
to literature and a lot of books, little did he know that the reading culture which
he cultivated in his brother’s house was going to take him to places and
heights he never dreamt of reaching.

He was Editor at National Concord while Dimgba Igwe
was Assistant Editor in Sunday Concord. They were later recruited by Managing
Director Dr. Doyinsola Hamidat Abiola
to start Weekend
Concord as Editor and Deputy Editor respectively, in February 1989 and ever since then, the duo have been
long standing friends.

The duo was behind the
monumental success of Weekend Concord in late 80s till early 90s.
They succeeded in changing the face of weekend print journalism in the
industry.
The friendship of
Awoyinfa and Igwe is a testimony, and is worthy of emulation. The duos have
stuck together like Siamese twins for the past 23 years. They were co-founders
of The Sun newspapers. Together they are now Publisher and Associate Publisher of
Entertainment Express and Sunday Express.
Mr.
Mike Awoyinfa has been writing a book which involves
editors from all over the world. It is an interview with celebrated editors; editors
of the Sunday Times of London, of the New York Times Daily, Los-Angeles Times
and many others. It is a book which he intend to launch to mark His 60th birthday
He is blessed with a
lovely wife that understands him like a book and he is blessed with Three
Wonderful Kids and I happen to be a friend to his first Son.

His friends and well-wishers
are putting together a dinner in his honour on the 5st of August at
Sheraton Hotel Ikeja, to celebrate this wonderful man.
One of his best wishes
was to be given an award and he wants the award to be inscribed in his name: Mike Awoyinfa Award for Human Interest Journalism.
That is an award very dear to his heart. And I see that coming very very soon.
