Yes, it’s back and
more entertaining!!!!
MTV’s colossal TV and
social media hit Lip Sync Battle is back with a vengeance as season 2 opens
with an epic clash between Channing Tatum and his wife, actress Jenna Dewan
Tatum (MTV, 21:35 CAT, Monday 8 February).
The “Magic Mike”
muscleman gets well and truly in touch with his feminine side in a high octane
display of girl power as he busts some killer moves dressed as Beyoncé, before
performing a show-stopping rendition of “Let It Go” tricked up as “Elsa” from
“Frozen”. Not letting him win that easily, wife Jenna holds her own, grinding
away to Ginuwine’s “Pony” and giving her other half a lap dance to remember -
although a surprise appearance by Queen Bey herself could tip the scales in Channing’s
favour.
Hosted by the
multi-talented LL Cool J with commentary by supermodel Chrissy Teigen, Lip Sync
Battle has become a global success story for Viacom since launching on Spike TV
in the USA in 2015. Based on an original idea by John Krasinski and Stephen
Merchant (both of whom have performed on the show) the series has become a
global ratings and multiplatform superstar and is the most-watched original
series in Spike’s history.
A-list stars and pop
culture stars who went head-to-head in Season 1 included Emily Blunt vs Anne
Hathaway, Common vs John Legend, Queen Latifah vs Marlon Wayans, and Jimmy
Fallon vs Dwayne Johnson. Among the most memorable performances are Will
Arnett’s rendition of “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie,
Joseph-Gordon Levitt channelling Janet Jackson in “Rhythm Nation”, and John
Legend getting in touch with his inner MC Hammer. Other celebrities
featuring on the show have included Mike Tyson, Anna Kendrick, Justin Bieber,
Taraji P Henson and Malin Ackerman.
Commented Dillon Khan,
Channel Head, MTV, “Lip Sync Battle is the funniest, most exciting and original
reality format brought to TV in the last year. Season 2 promises to top Season
One with some of the key players in the industry delivering jaw-dropping
performances that will keep you talking for days on end. This is not to be
missed.”
