Hi all, The much anticipated unveiling of the
successful music talents who have been admitted into the MTN Project Fame West
Africa music academy for the 6th season of the show, the opening gala took place on saturday with a sensational
Opening Gala ceremony with performances from Oyinkansade a former contestant to the outside
stage. He performed his debut single produced by TY-MIX and 10 minutes later,
Iyanya and Praiz mounted the stage and gave mini performances
Margaret Cephas has
loved music for as long as she can remember. She has been singing since she was
a child and wants to make the most of her talent. She is Liberian and came
second position at the 2012 edition of the Liberian Talent hunt – A Star is
Born.
She is currently a
year 4 Biology/Chemistry student of United Methodist University, Monrovia and
looks forward to making friends in the Academy.
Olawale Ayodele Ojo is a 400 level Agronomy
Student of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is
fondly referred to by friends as ‘Pimp’ because of his amazing skill in laptop
and phone repairs. He looks forward to being a better performer after his
Academy experience and especially looks forward to a life-transforming
encounter with Uncle Ben.
When stressed out, he takes solace in Jazz music.
If allowed to take anything into the academy, it will be my phone, reason being
that I can listen to music and also surf the internet. His name ‘Olawale’ means
‘wealth has come home’.
Jimoh Lucky, who
enjoys a lot of Nigerian acts like Tu face, Wande Coal, Banky W and very many
others is proudly Edo. He loves hanging out with his acapella friends at
Waterboard neighbourhood in Auchi, Nigeria where he lives and enjoys the
company of Jovita Ekponbor, his girlfriend whom he fondly refers to as the love
of his life.
Jimoh is 23 years old,
and ultimately wishes to make it to the top six in the competition. He is
poised, not only to improve on his vocals but also to learn more about life and
human relations. While he sees visiting Paris, as a dream come true, Calabar
still remains his favourite place in Nigeria.
Oluchi Israel is
a 19 year old University of Calabar student whose aim of joining the
competition is to increase her vocal abilities, take on higher notes and
ultimately be a music star.
She does not see
Academy romance as a possibility because of her undying commitment to Emeka her
boyfriend whom she holds very dear. Oluchi is of Igbo descent and apart
from her amazing flair for music; she also has a knack for computer hardware
hence her choice for Computer Science as a course of study.
Leonard Massaquoi has
a son, named Majesty whom he adores. Leo speaks fluent English having started
his education at the Services Children School, Wilberforce, Sierra Leone under
the enduring tutelage of Mr. Kamghou. His love for basket ball can’t be over
emphasized as this serves as extra mural activity for him. He plays basketball
for his team ‘Bellair Eagles’ as a point and shooting guard.
Favourite hang-outs
for him includes Edet, Agal, Oldskul and Aces night club. Singing, watching movies,
getting on social networks and of course playing basket ball makes his leisure.
Roland Ricketts is a Microbiologist heading
for stardom. He absolutely loves music and sees the PF Academy as the best
music school in West Africa and so has tried several times to get in. Last
year, he made it as far as the opening gala but narrowly missed making it into
the Academy. This year he is determined to make it and use the opportunity to
improve himself.
He is a gentleman fluent in English and Yoruba. He
lives in Abuja with his family, though of Lagos descent and a Lead City
University graduate. Roland holds Mercy his girlfriend close to his heart and
he’s ready to make her proud.
David Crentsil is
a 22year old final year Elect. Elect. Engineering student of Regional Maritime
University, Accra. He loves music and singing and has tested his skill with the
best in Ghana and recently came 6th in the 5th season of Ghana’s
‘Stars of the future’. He definitely sees himself as a future star and believes
he will do well and go all the way this season. He says the whole of Ghana will
be solidly behind him.
This calm and
collected dude is the only child of his parents and was brought up under the
loving hands of his grandma. He has a girlfriend he plans to stay committed to;
so Academy romance for him is a ‘no-no’. Like many Ghanaians he loves reggae,
plans to learn as much as he can in the Academy and enjoy the stay all the way.
Henry McJohn is originally native to Delta
State, Nigeria but has lived a better part of his life in Lagos state. He loves
music and has been a back-up singer for the likes of Ben Okri, Stella
Monye, Blacky and many others.
He is 28 years old and has an eclectic taste for
music.He has gone through the PF audition process 6 times. Last year after
trying the wild card option he made it to the top two, but was nipped out at
the final hurdle. This year he believes he is more than ready to make it to the
top and plans to use the platform as the spring board for him to do his own
thing.
Immaculate Patience is
a jolly-go-lucky 22 year old belle from Benue State, Nigeria. She sees the
competition as a ‘win win’ show and is more than ready to give it her best.
Her hobbies over the
years remain singing, swimming and dancing and she’s ready to enjoy the Academy
to the fullest while she improves on her diction and stage presence. Immaculate
is a Mass Communication graduate of Benue State University.
Niniola Apata has always loved music and
singing and started singing as far back as she can remember. She is a graduate
of the University of Lagos and really enjoys singing.
She is 28year old and loves to sing with her young
son. When she is not singing she holds down a full time job in academia. She
has followed the PF Academy and expects to enjoy her stay in there and also get
to the top with her music riding on the popularity and exposure PF will give
her.
Johnny Drille Ighodaro is proudly Benin. He
lives in Benin City, schooled in the University of Benin and auditioned in
Benin City, Nigeria. Johnny is 23 years of age, the first son of a School
Principal and Clergy.
He spends a better part of his time in his studio
doing what he likes to do best. He plays the guitar. He is here in the
competition ready to do his best to know and be known.
Gbemisola Rowland is a 20 year old outgoing
girl. She is inspired by her middle name ‘Duzzi’ which means excellence and she
is determined to excel. She thoroughly enjoys whatever she does, particularly
music.
Though she auditioned in Ibadan, she lives in Lagos
with her family where she works as a model and schools at the University of
Lagos. This last child among seven siblings surely knows how to be on top of
her groove as she wants to be known by her fashion statement and huge
hairstyles. She’s here to give her best even as she aims for the top.
Pleasant 23 year old Janet Ayoka is set
to give her best this season. This graduate of Mass Communication who enjoys
singing and sleeping, hates intimidation and fake people.
She has tried to get on the show thrice before now
and she sees making it this far in this Season as a dream come true. Her
resolve is to enjoy the Academy and improve on her human relations.
Simon Ekechukwu is cool and calm and he loves
music and often spends hours engrossed in it all by himself. He is an Economics
graduate of Imo State University and enjoys playing the guitar.
He has natural clean locked hair which stands him
stand out in the crowd. Simon is expressive and enjoys writing, listening to
music and of course singing a lot and is looking forward to having a good time
in the competition.
Blessing Kakogbe is a happily married 29 year old
Edo lady who lives in Abuja with her husband. She is a Sociology graduate of
University of Abuja and currently works as a civil servant.
Making friends is natural to her any day, any time.
Amongst her closest is Tessy Gankur who she describes as one person she can
discuss anything and everything with. Living in a quiet urban area in Abuja,
Blessing will listen to music icons like Beyonce, Rihanna, Leona Lewis on
the international scene while Omawumi will just be right for her on
the shores of Nigeria.
Doing house chores and watching movies takes her
leisure. She sees herself at the top in this competition.
Omolayo Peter Babawale - This Food Engineering
graduate has an unassuming personality but a deep love for music and wants indigenous
infusions to play a large part in his music.
He is a man of many parts and in addition to
singing well he also enjoys knitting, cooking and ballet dancing.
The event is meant to let out a tip of the ice-berg to the 10 week musical-feel, as they would be prepared to dish out their talents in front of the Judges, Faculty and expected massive audience.
