ASA, NNEKA, ODEMWINGIE NOW VERIFIED ON TWITTER

After
what looked like it would never happen, Micro-blogging site Twitter has finally
verified Twitter accounts owned by some Nigerian international artists Asa
& Nneka and international footballer, Peter Odemwingie.
Before
now, prominent Nigerians and celebrities have had to cope with fake or
parody accounts on Twitter which often mislead fans.
Since
June 2008, when Twitter launched its verification programme, it has been easier
to identify the official Twitter accounts of celebrities, prominent
personalities and brands.
While
we’re not sure how these Nigerian celebrities got their Twitter accounts
verified by Twitter, it is likely that they or their agents applied for the
Twitter verification programme, which usually required the account holders to
present valid and relevant documents as evidence.
We
expect to see more Twitter accounts verified in the coming weeks and months,
especially those of popular Afropop superstar, Dbanj and his producer, Don
Jazzy who have over a hundred thousand followers.
